Amelie’s paintings are, in a word, incredible. Her portraits convey strength, beauty, and her own high level of artistic skill. Her work with oils and her understanding of lighting and shadow is startlingly sophisticated and I cannot wait to see what she does next. [...] I think it is telling that when discussing “Heirloom Rose” Amelie and I always referred to the painting as “her” rather than “it.” Amelie’s paintings are truly living things.
