La muse de cette peinture me fait beaucoup penser à ma plus jeune fille, Marianne. Avec ses taches de rousseur, ses cheveux auburn, son menton avec une fossette et ses yeux bleus, elle lui ressemble énormément. Ça rend cette œuvre encore plus touchante pour moi, parce que j’ai l’impression de peindre un futur qui arrive beaucoup trop vite. D’un côté, je veux savourer chaque moment de son enfance, et de l’autre, je suis tellement fière de la femme extraordinaire qu’elle devient.
The muse in this artwork brings to mind my youngest daughter, Marianne. Her likeness is undeniable—freckles, auburn hair, a dimpled chin, and blue eyes. This resemblance makes the piece even more moving for me as if I’m painting a future that feels both exciting and bittersweet. Time is moving swiftly, and as much as I want to revel in her childhood, I can't help but feel pride in the remarkable woman she’s becoming.
La maternité, c’est une aventure magique et magnifique. Cette peinture me ramène ici et maintenant, et me rappelle de profiter de chaque instant, tout en étant impatiente de découvrir ce que l’avenir nous réserve. À travers chaque coup de pinceau, j’ai voulu capturer ce sentiment : entre l’envie d’aller de l’avant et la joie de vivre le moment présent.
Motherhood, in all its complexity, has been a wild and beautiful journey. The painting grounds me in the present, a reminder to cherish the fleeting moments while also looking forward to what’s yet to come. Through the brushstrokes, I’ve tried to capture the feeling of this delicate balance—anticipating the future while finding joy in today.
Sur le plan artistique, cette œuvre est aussi un clin d’œil à la Naissance de Vénus de Botticelli, mais revue à ma manière. Pendant longtemps, les femmes dans l’art ont été vues d'une certaine manière, souvent objectifiées. Ici, je voulais montrer une femme forte, confiante, qui s’impose. Elle regarde le spectateur droit dans les yeux, avec assurance.
Artistically, this piece is also an homage to Botticelli’s Birth of Venus, but with a modern twist. Historically, women in art have often been objectified or confined to narrow ideals of beauty. I wanted to create a powerful figure who embodies strength, confidence, and self-assurance. She stands as a compelling muse, breaking free from those traditional confines, and meeting the viewer’s gaze boldly.
Mais cette peinture ne se limite pas à représenter une femme. Elle invite chacun à voir sa propre beauté à travers elle. L’idée c’est que l’œuvre devienne un miroir pour celui ou celle qui la regarde, et que ce reflet nous aide à cultiver l’amour de soi, à voir notre propre force intérieure.
