Behind the Collection : "The Lucky Girl Collection"
Quand j'ai commencé à peindre "The Lucky Girl Collection", j’ai voulu capturer quelque chose de profondément intime et universel à la fois : la dualité de la féminité. En utilisant un fond de gesso transparent, j’ai cherché à révéler la texture brute de la toile, cette matière qui, pour moi, représente la vérité nue de notre être. J’ai voulu que chaque portrait incarne cette dualité – entre la délicatesse et la force, ce que l’on est et ce que l’on projète, la perfection et l’instinct sauvage.
When I began painting “The Lucky Girl Collection”, I wanted to capture something both profoundly intimate and universal: the duality of femininity. Using a transparent gesso base, I sought to reveal the raw texture of the canvas, the material that, for me, represents the naked truth of our being. I wanted each portrait to embody this duality - between delicacy and strength, what we are and what we project, perfection and wild instinct.
Les visages de mes muses sont travaillés avec minutie, particulièrement autour du regard, car pour moi, c’est là que l’âme se révèle, là où le vrai dialogue commence entre l'œuvre et le spectateur. Leurs yeux vous capturent, transcendant les barrières, pour exposer quelque chose de vulnérable et de puissant. Le corps, quant à lui, reste dans un état plus brut, avec des coups de pinceau expressifs qui symbolisent la nature sauvage et indomptable qui existe en chaque femme, libre des attentes de la société.
The faces of my muses are meticulously crafted, especially around the eyes, because for me, this is where the soul is revealed, where the real dialogue begins between the work and the viewer. Their eyes capture you, transcending barriers to expose something vulnerable and powerful. The body, meanwhile, remains in a more raw state, with expressive brushstrokes that symbolize the wild, untamed nature that exists in every woman, free from society's expectations.
Peindre cette collection m’a rappelé cette citation de Simone de Beauvoir : « On ne naît pas femme, on le devient ». Chaque femme porte en elle les histoires, les luttes, et la résilience des générations qui l’ont précédée. Malgré les progrès, je sais que la liberté des femmes n’est pas encore atteinte. "The Lucky Girl Collection" est mon hommage à ces histoires invisibles, à cette complexité qui façonne la féminité, entre émancipation et attachement aux racines.
Painting this collection reminded me of Simone de Beauvoir's quote: “You're not born a woman; you become one.” Every woman carries within her the stories, struggles, and resilience of the generations that preceded her. Despite progress, women's freedom has not yet been achieved. “The Lucky Girl Collection” is my tribute to these invisible stories, to the complexity that shapes femininity between emancipation and attachment to roots.
